AI video gets worse when it feeds on itself. It holds up when it feeds on reality. So every shot starts from a real film frame, and a new still never starts from another AI image. Here is one shot of our film The Answer, through all five steps.

A frame from a real film, chosen for mood, composition and energy. This one is from 1972. A real frame carries lens character, real light and grain that a model can't invent.

The real frame goes into GPT Image with a prompt. It keeps the composition, the light and the grain. It changes the person and the wall.

Same mask, new person, one headline. Drag the line to compare it with the real frame. Masks are a gift, because a masked figure needs no face lock.

Kling turns the still into a speaking shot. The prompt has four parts: the camera, the line in quotes, an action after the last word and the sound of the room.

Roll 02 of The Answer. Kling 3.0, 1080p, 8 seconds, with the voice made by Kling. Its first frame is the approved still.

Edit this photograph while preserving the exact composition, the masked figure's pose with the hand raised near the chin, the direction of the light, the muted green-grey palette and the heavy film grain of early 1970s cinema. Keep the fabric mask exactly as it is. Change the person underneath: dark brown eyes, heavier masculine brows visible through the eye openings, strong masculine hands, the lips in the mouth opening relaxed and closed. Replace the pale knit sweater with a dark charcoal wool jacket over a black shirt.

Camera is shakey handheld, small bumps and corrections throughout.

The masked figure speaks through the mask, saying "They get an answer. A recommendation. One name. Everyone else in the industry? Never mentioned. Not rejected. Just never mentioned."

eyes moving slowly to the camera as the last words land, then the head tilts slightly and holds.

Quiet room, paper rustling somewhere.

Every prompt on this page is the team's real prompt, copied as it was sent. The typo in “shakey” stays, because that is the tested prompt.

Ten rolls. One film.

The Answer is a relay film. One argument passes from face to face across different worlds. The team kept ten raw rolls from Kling. The edit in Premiere Pro turned them into the film.

89 seconds of raw rolls

79 seconds of film

Rolls 01 and 02

Roll 03 gives two seconds

The press conference roll runs 6 seconds. The film uses about 2 of them.

Two rolls swap places

The film plays roll 07 before roll 06. The order is decided in the edit.

Errors go in the bin

Raw rolls have small errors. The edit trims them away and adds music and effects.

What the edit added

One word on screen

15.9 s · word captions cost no credits

51.2 s · about a third of a second

Choose a note to see the decision on the real rolls.

Trimmed in the edit

The raw lengths are measured from the rolls. The cut times are read from the finished film, so they are close, not exact. Where roll 01 ends and roll 02 begins is not measured, so the two share one block.

Five reels, in the order the work happens.

Each module starts from what the one before produced. Every lesson ends with homework you can do the same day.

ChatGPT with image generation

Writes the script from your frames. GPT Image turns each real frame into your world. Any plan with image generation works.

Turns each approved still into a short speaking roll. Use it directly, or through a platform such as Higgsfield.

The team cut The Answer in Adobe Premiere Pro. CapCut is free and enough. VEGAS Pro works too.

Film-Grab is a free archive of film stills. ShotDeck is a paid, searchable library. Your own screenshots work too.

The team budgets roughly 800 credits for one finished film, rerolls included. You pay for your own. These are the team's figures from September 2026.

Do I pay for the AI tools?

Yes, separately. You need ChatGPT with image generation, Kling and video credits. CapCut is a free editor.
